What's new

Exciting news for English Literature!

Our fully refreshed A Christmas Carol content launches on 15 October, bringing a streamlined, exam-focused collection that covers everything students need from Dickens' novella. The new videos have been crafted with atmospheric visuals and distinctive character voices that bring the story to life, drawing students into the world of the novella and making the content as engaging as it is effective.

From Scrooge's transformation and the role of the Ghosts to Dickens' social critique of Victorian poverty, the refreshed collection covers plot, character, themes, symbols, key quotes and writer's craft in depth. Themes are now grouped around social responsibility, family and redemption, and the Christmas spirit, while the five original stave-by-stave quote pods have been reorganised into three thematic quote pods for sharper, more usable exam preparation.

A brand-new revision refresh video ties it all together with quick-fire plot recap, key character arcs, central themes and essential quotes to remember. Structure, language and tone each get their own dedicated pod, giving students the depth of coverage that writer's craft questions demand. Available for AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, OCR, and WJEC.

19 pods launching 15 October, with 13 Check and Challenge assessments, 12 Stretch Check and Challenge assessments, 12 Ready Made Assignments, and 12 Stretch Ready Made Assignments already live and ready to teach.

Help students understand Dickens' moral message with clarity, apply close analysis of language, structure and tone with confidence, and build well-evidenced responses that connect character, theme and writer's craft across the whole novella.

English Literature revision that's ready to teach, teaching that gets results. Live on GCSEPod from 15 October 2026.

A note on the original A Christmas Carol content

The refreshed pods launching on 15 October are linked directly to the existing A Christmas Carol content, which will remain available on the platform alongside the new videos for now. We want to make sure no class is left mid-unit without the resources they started with.

However, please be aware that the original content will be removed from GCSEPod at the start of January 2027. If you're currently teaching A Christmas Carol using the existing pods, we'd encourage you to plan ahead and make the switch to the refreshed collection at a natural point in your teaching, ideally before the end of term. The new content covers all the same ground and more, so the transition should be straightforward.

If you have any questions about the changeover, please get in touch with your GCSEPod contact.
