Dear Educators

At this point in the term, many schools find themselves marking important moments of reflection across different faiths and traditions. This year, both Ramadan and Lent fall within the same period, bringing small but meaningful changes to routines, energy levels, and daily experiences for many students and colleagues.

For some students, this may involve fasting or changes to daily habits. For others, it may simply be an opportunity to reflect, reset, or think more intentionally about personal goals. In busy school environments, these moments can easily pass unnoticed, yet small gestures of awareness often make students feel seen and supported.

In the classroom, simple approaches can help create an inclusive and understanding environment:

  • Acknowledging that students may be managing different routines or energy levels.

  • Offering clarity and structure so expectations feel predictable.

  • Creating space for respectful curiosity and understanding between students.

These moments also provide valuable opportunities for tutor time or assemblies, helping students develop awareness of the diverse experiences within their school community.

GCSEPod can support these conversations through Religious Studies content and British Values Pods that explore beliefs, traditions, and cultural understanding across faiths. The flexibility of Pods also allows students to engage with learning at times that suit their routines during periods of reflection or fasting.

You may wish to explore the GCSEPod library for RS and British Values Pods that can support assemblies, tutor discussions, or curriculum links during this time of year.
