Helping Students Manage Stress & Stay Steady

Week 5 of 6 Weeks to Success

Written by Kate Storey

As we approach the Easter break, many students begin to feel tired, overwhelmed, or unsure of their progress. Week 5 focuses on helping them stay motivated, balanced, and confident - while keeping revision manageable and supporting their wellbeing.

This week’s resources are designed to help students build healthy routines, manage stress, and maintain steady progress. Everything can be used independently by students, meaning no additional workload for you.

Wellbeing & Motivation: Helping Students Stay Steady

This week’s theme is about giving students the tools to manage pressure and keep going - especially those who may be feeling the strain.

Healthy Routines That Make a Difference

Encourage students to:
• Prioritise sleep to support memory and focus
• Stay hydrated throughout the day
• Build in short, regular breaks to avoid burnout

These small habits have a big impact on revision quality.

Managing Exam Anxiety

The Mental Health Pods and grounding technique video help students:
• Reduce stress through simple breathing and grounding
• Break tasks into manageable steps
• Stay present and avoid spiralling thoughts

Avoiding the Cramming Cycle

Support students to:
• Revise little and often
• Use short, focused bursts
• Celebrate progress rather than perfection

This helps them build sustainable routines before the break.

Encouraging Positive Self‑Talk

Students often underestimate the power of mindset.
Share simple reframes such as:
• “I’m improving each time I practise.”
• “I don’t need to know everything today - just the next step.”
